Pandala Tharavadu at Malayattoor

Kurinjimudi” or Malayattoor hill station village, lies on the Northern part of PeriyarRiver. Other boundaries are in North and East the Malayattoor hills, South Periyar river and the West Pallupettachannel. Total area is about 27 sq. kms. Malayattoor was belongs to the Cochin Nattu Rajayam and was known as Cochin (C) Malayattoor till Travanchore – Cochin State was formed.  The original tharavadu was with ‘nalu kettuum nadu mittam’. This was renovated later. The tharavadu was belonging to Pandala Ayyappan alias Kochappu choon. This house was demolished in November, 2004 and a new house was constructed in front the tharavadu, by the present occupant Gopalakrishnan.

Jagath Guru Sree Narayana Gurudevan had visited the Pandala Ttharavadu and performed the “Pandhibhojanam” in 1904. HE stayed one night there to perform Pandhibhojanam. Later also Gurudevan visited this tharavadu once again during establishment of Ashram in Alawaye.  The Pandala Tharavadu building is therefore a monument that is held in high esteem by all.

Commemorative Coin in the name of “Jagath Guru Sree Narayana Gurudev”

Vijayan N Pandala had designed and initiated the commemorative coin which was inaugurated by the Honorable Union Minister for Finance on September 2006 at Sivagiri mutt. The coin is under circulation.
